Mrs. Donna Wiedenmeyer Coon, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, June 7, 2010 at St. Mary's Health Center. Donna was born February 13, 1929, in Urness Township, Minn., the daughter of Andrew and Emma Thorson Urness. She was married in 1950 in Minneapolis, Minn., to W.O. Wiedenmeyer, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1971. On January 14, 1978, in Jefferson City, Mo., she married Charles Coon. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1967, Donna attended Urness High School, Urness, Minn. A homemaker, Donna had been employed in sales with Ramada Inn, Jacques Clothing Store, Saffee's, and Roth's Clothing Store. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church; a member of the X Club; a member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and a Lioness with the Host Lions Club. Donna was widowed at a young age and showed strength and courage in raising four children, a trait she displayed her entire life. She enjoyed time with family and friends particularly at the Lake of the Ozarks. Survivors include: her husband of 32 years, Charles Coon; seven children, Rhonda Chiles and her husband Darrell of Overland Park, Kan., Heidi Marley of Las Vegas, Nev., Jay Wiedenmeyer and his wife Peggy of Lenexa, Kan., Todd Wiedenmeyer and his wife Susan of Olathe, Kan., Mitchell Coon of Blue Springs, Mo., Charles David Coon of Branson, Mo., and Mark Coon and his wife Cathy of Independence, Mo.; three sisters, Elaine Martin and her husband Bob of Alexandria, Minn., Joann Kildow and her husband Greg of Seattle, Wash., and Arlou Hyatt and her husband Hank of Alexandria, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Jean Urness of St. Cloud, Minn. and Connie Urness of Minneapolis, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, two brothers, Harlan Urness and Virgil Urness, and four grandchildren. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday . Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Reverend Scott Musselman officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
