Jane Hemeyer, 93, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the St. Joseph Home for the Aged. She was born January 29, 1917 in New London, Missouri, the daughter of Ellis Bryan and Ruby Margaret (Sykes) Clark. She was a 1935 graduate of Hannibal High School and graduated from McCooey Business School. On December 5, 1941, Jane was united in marriage to Elmer Hemeyer, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1987. Jane worked as a medical legal secretary for Dr. Guhleman, and was secretary for Missouri Speaker of the House James Godfrey. She was a member of First Christian Church in Jefferson City. She was a past member of the Morning Music Club, and was a past member and president of the West School PTA and Jefferson City High School PTA. Survivors include one son, John Hemeyer (Peggy Thoenen) of Frankford, Missouri; one granddaughter, Emily Jane Hemeyer of St. Louis, Missouri; one grandson, William Clark Hemeyer (Tylisha Balano) of Columbia, Missouri; one brother, Jack Clark (Shirley) of Orlando, Florida; one niece, Jane Dixon (Pat) of Lexington, Kentucky; two nephews: Keith Clark (Julie) of Niles, Michigan, Michael Clark (Chris) of Orlando, Florida; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held with interment in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Steps Pre-School or Elder Ministry at First Christian Church.
