Juanita M. Strader, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center. She was born February 20, 1918, in Sedalia, a daughter of James Edgar and Lillian Stachia Manning Wolf. On July 18, 1936, in Marshall, she married Ralph Louis Strader, who died October 30, 2003. Mrs. Strader was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Jolly Elders, AARP and Ex-POW's. She participated in the American Legion and VFW with her husband. She worked for OK Optical and Jupiter Store. She enjoyed quilting, playing pinochle and pitch, and loved playing the organ. She was very active in raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy as two of her brothers had the disease. She was an election poll worker at Horace Mann School for many years. Surviving are a son, Ralph Strader Jr. and his wife Paulette, of Jefferson City, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Morris and her husband Ozzie, of Sedalia; four granddaughters, Angela Best and her husband Scott, Sheri Webb and her husband Kevin, Maggie Hartman and her husband Ryan, and Jennifer Strader; five great-grandchildren, Kali, Lexi, and Adam Webb, and Nathan and Nicholas Best; a sister, Beverly Embry, of Sedalia; and a brother, James E. Wolf, of Clinton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Harriet K. Strader in November 1942; seven sisters, Mildred Long, Gertrude Huffman, Opal Prall, Vivian Williams, Shirley Adams, Barbara Harrison, and Donna Waite; and two brothers, Eugene Wolf and Bobby Wolf. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jared Wheeler officiating. Casket bearers will be Scott Best, Kevin Webb, Ryan Hartman, Rick Embry, Don Barbour and Fred Biggs. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at Heckart Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church Bereavement Committee.
