Jack Shaw

Jack Vernon Shaw, 81, of Columbia, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Mr. Shaw was born October 13, 1928, in Boone County, Mo., to Roy and Lennie Shaw. On September 3, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lois Dean Watson in Columbia. This past year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the MO/KS Local 15 Chapter 11 of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for 58 years. Jack had a passion for the outdoors, including all forms of hunting and fishing with a true love of quail hunting and trout fishing. He and Lois spent many weekends at their place in Bennet Springs, Mo. He enjoyed visiting with all the numerous people who stopped in to see him over the years. Mr. Shaw is survived by his devoted wife, Lois, of the home; children, Lanetta Woodland of Jefferson City, Loretta (Donald) Forsee of Columbia, Vernon (Tita) Shaw of Harrisburg, Nancy (Dennis) Palmer of Columbia, and Troy (Meredith) Shaw of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Jason Forsee, Amber and Krystal Palmer, Kristina Woodland, Tristen, Wyatt and Mason Shaw; one great-grandson, Devin Forsee; and one brother, Robert "Buddy" Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy "Edward" Shaw, Wesley Shaw, and Alfred Shaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, at Parker Funeral Service in Columbia. Services will be conducted by Dennis Swearingen of Olivet Christian Church. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Harrisburg, Mo. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2 at Parker from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Bethlehem Cemetery.
