Steven Hartman

Steven Craig Hartman, 51, formerly of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at his home in Monett, Mo. He was the son of Kenneth Lee Hartman and Blanche (Forester) Hartman, both of whom preceded him in death. He was born March 18, 1959, at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Steven was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City where he was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from California High School in 1977. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Cold War in Turkey from April of 1980 to April of 1981. Upon returning home from the Air Force, he enrolled in Linn State Technical College in Linn, Mo. He was a skilled carpenter, loving father, grateful son and loyal friend. Survivors include one son, Captain Daniel Hartman and his wife Christina of Ft. Riley, Kan.; one brother, Kenny Hartman of Jefferson City, Mo.; Sharon Rapert of Monett, Mo., Doris Walters and Maurita Swartwood, both of California, Mo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo. Burial will be at the Flag Springs Cemetery with full military honors. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Peter Kurowski. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Girls Town Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 59, Kingdom City, MO 65262. Arrangements are under the Direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, MO 65018.
