Evelyn Frye

Mrs. Evelyn B. Frye, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Villa Marie Nursing Center. Mrs. Frye was born on September 10, 1916, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of Oat and Stella Owens Taggart. She was married on December 1, 1940, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Raymond F. Frye, who preceded her in death on September 9, 1988. Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper with Ford Ideal Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Kansas City, Mo. for the majority of her life. After retirement, she returned to the Jefferson City area to be closer to her family. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and loved the church, especially attending the Sunday School class. Evelyn quilted and embroidered many beautiful quilts and she always enjoyed going to quilt shows. She loved spending time and sharing with her family and traveling with her husband and sister. Survivors include: one sister, Wanda Wickell of Fulton, Mo.; one niece, Joyce Wesseldine of Columbia, Mo.; five nephews, Gale Wickell and his wife Debbie of Springfield, Mo., Michael Wickell and his wife Claire of Fulton, Mo., Gary Taggart and his wife Shirley of Jefferson City, Mo., Kenny Taggart of Columbia, Mo., and Ronnie Taggart of Jefferson City, Mo.; and several cousins, great-nieces, and great- nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Marion O. Taggart and Kenneth G. Taggart. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Immanuel Baptist Church, 705 Ohio Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
