Jerry Hagerman, 68, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia. Jerry was born January 10, 1942, to Edward and Pearlie Dix Hagerman and grew up near Versailles. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was discharged in 1962. He married Marilyn Hentges in 1964. He retired after 36 years with IBM. Jerry was active in the Catholic Church including participating in the Knights of Columbus Council 1529 serving as past Grand Knight. He also attained the rank of 4th degree Knight. Jerry's quiet presence will be missed by family and friends. He was a wonderful example of humility and a caring spirit. In addition to his wife, survivors include: three children, Daniel (Susan) of Lee's Summit, Debra (Rick) Massman of Jefferson City and Jon of the home; seven grandchildren (who affectionately called him Papa), Kristina, Alex, Jennifer, Katie, Makayla, Malana and Jessica; four sisters, Milly Jobe of Sedalia, Barbara Coleman of Green Ridge, Wanda Hilty and Connie Coontz, both of Versailles; and mother and father-in-law, Louis and Marie Hentges of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery West. In lieu of flowers memorial donations honoring Jerry may be sent to Knights of Columbus, c/o Fr. Tolton High School Scholarship Fund, 2525 N.
