Erma Dean Roll, 80, of California, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at California Care Center. She was born March 7, 1930, in California, the daughter of Herman and Tessie (Bowlin) Flippin, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married November 26, 1955, to Donald Franklin Roll, who preceded her in death on October 6, 2009. Erma Dean graduated from California High School, where she was active in sports. She worked at Weber Shoe Factory in Tipton, California Manufacturing, and she was also a cook at many area nursing homes and the school cafeteria. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in California, and was a charter member of FOE Auxiliary 4027. She coached softball for many years and thoroughly enjoyed watching her family participate in school and sports activities. She is survived by one son, Kim (Kathy) Roll of California; four daughters, Alyson Keeran, Angela (Jim) Bell, Kelly (David) Strickfaden, all of California, and Donna (Philip) Birdsong of Clarksburg; two brothers, Paul (Linda) Flippin and Donnie (Dorothy) Flippin, all of California; two sisters, Faye Jacobs of Marceline and Gaye (Jim) Kunze of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Flippin and Hazel Flippin, both of California; nine grandchildren, Kristin Clark, Michael Keeran, Taylor and Eric Birdsong, Kayla and Nathanial Bell, Anastasia, Abigail and Adrienne Strickfaden; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Barber and Hunter Clark. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Maye Flippin and Carmen Dunham; and four brothers, Kenneth Brooks, Richard, Marion, and Larry Flippin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in California. Burial will be in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Fred Elskamp and Eulogist Rev. David Griffith. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Annunciation Ladies Sodality or California Care Resident's Fund, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
