Douglas Kerr, 47, of Chesapeake, Va., went to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 1, 2010. Born in Jefferson City, he was the son of Roy Kerr of Columbia, and Diane Kerr of Jefferson City. Doug retired after 25 years of dedicated service from the U.S. Navy, where he was a Senior Chief Petty Officer and a proud veteran of the Gulf War and Operation Freedom. He was employed by BAE Systems, where he was an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He will be remembered for his passion for family. He was a loving husband and father who always placed family needs above his own. Including his parents, Doug is survived by his wife, Ann Marie; six children, Curtis Kerr, Blake Kerr, Ashley Kerr Minter, Killian Muzzy, Shannon Muzzy and Nichole Muzzy; three grandchildren, Kaiya, Diego and Adam; a sister, Sondra Binkley; in-laws, Patrick and Kathryn Dougher; as well as his beloved "babies", Horatio, Autie and Sophie. Doug's life will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Dr. James Rushing Jr. and Rev. Jerry Greco will officiate. The interment will be in Pennsylvania. The viewing will begin on Monday with the family receiving friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 1322 N. George Washington Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23323.
