Ida Mae Kunze, 99, of California, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Moniteau Care Center in California. She was born June 11, 1910, in Chamois, the daughter of Leonard and Maude (Thorpe) Matthews, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married in Jefferson City on April 8, 1927, to Walter H. Kunze, who preceded her in death in 1976. Ida did washing and ironing for many people while living in McGirk. She worked for 25 years as a Marker for Weber Shoe Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church of California. She enjoyed being around her family and watching the grandchildren. She made ham salad sandwiches for 27 years for the Red Cross. She is survived by two sons, Jim (Gaye) Kunze of Columbia, and Kenneth (Doris) Kunze of California; one daughter, Judy Hodge and friend David Dagley of Rocky Mount; one sister, Delpha Price of Beaverton, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Dunham; one son-in-law, Buddy Dunham; one grandson and one great-grandson; three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow. Visitation will be today, Friday, April 2, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
