Weather conditions have caused several changes in the Missouri Transportation department's plans to open the new Lafayette Street interchange with U.S. 50/63 in Jefferson City.

As of Friday, MoDOT said opening should occur by Tuesday afternoon.

A week ago, the department had planned to open the interchange last Friday, but after last week's storms, it announced that the opening was delayed until this coming Friday.

Opening the Lafayette interchange on Tuesday also means the Clark Avenue interchange will be closing soon thereafter.

The Clark Avenue overpass will be closed for 45 days while the bridge gets a new driving surface. The pavement on either side of the bridge will be repaired as part of the rehabilitation.

The overpass will close after the morning rush hour Thursday, MoDOT said.

The on- and off-ramps will remain open through Sept. 29 but then also be closed as part of the rehabilitation work.

However, the eastbound off-ramp from U.S. 50/63 to Clark Avenue also is closed from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday to set sound wall panels.
