Wildwood's Wahle takes Boys Junior Amateur title on first sudden-death hole

It turns out 36 holes were not enough to decide the Missouri Boys Junior Amateur champion Tuesday at Jefferson City Country Club.

Kevin Wahle of Wildwood and Taylor Haltom each finished with a 4-under 140 at the end of the second round. Wahle, who was tied for the lead after the first round, shot a 70 on Tuesday, while Haltom carded a 4-under 68 to force a tie atop the leaderboard.

Wahle tapped in a short par putt on the first playoff hole to claim the championship in the male age 16-18 year-old division against Haltom.

Jonathan Bell of Jackson finished in third place, three strokes back with a 1-under 143.

Jack Rundle of Jefferson City had the highest finish among area golfers, shooting a 73 Tuesday to tie for ninth place out of 54 golfers with a two-day total of 5-over 149.

Jefferson City's Nathan Erickson finished one stroke behind Rundle, tying for 11th place at 6 over after shooting a 77 on Tuesday.

Other Jefferson City golfers include:

Cole Higgins and Dalton Roark, tied for 22nd with a 156. Higgins shot a 76 on Tuesday, while Roark carded an 81 in the second round.

Michael Snyder, tied for 40th with a 163 after shooting a 79 in the second round.

Brett Trowbridge, tied for 42nd at 164 after carding an 83 on Tuesday.

Carson Mudd, who finished 51st with a two-day total of 173, shot an 88 in the second round.

Braydon Pemberton, who finished 53rd with a 178, posted a 91 on Tuesday.

Tristan Bolin of Tipton finished 47th with a two-day score of 170, matching his first-round score of 85 on Tuesday. Eugene's Lane Plunkett placed 52nd with a 177, finishing with a 94 in his second round.

Peter Weaver of St. Louis shot a 4-over 76 on Tuesday to win the male age 14-15 year-old division title, finishing with a two-day total of 1-over 145 to win by five strokes.

August Hoffman of Kansas City was second out of 22 golfers with a 150, shooting a 73 in Tuesday's final round.

Jefferson City golfers in the tournament include:

Drew Higgins, who finished ninth with a 160 after shooting an 81 in the second round.

Alex Gentry, who finished 11th with a 162 after carding a 77 on Tuesday.

Cole Sappenfield, who placed 12th with a 163, shot an 84 on Tuesday.

Sam Owens, tied for 13th place with a 164 after shooting an 85 in the second round.

Luke Distler, who finished 16th with a 167, shot an 84 in his final round.

Michael Davidson, who placed 18th with a 177, carded an 88 on Tuesday.

Austin Kempker, who finished 20th with a 184, shot a 94 in the second round.

Owen Johnson, who took 21st place with a 188, had a 91 in the final round.

Jefferson City's Archer Schnieders won the championship in the male age 10-11 year-old division at Oak Hills Golf Center.

Schnieders shot an 80 on Tuesday, finishing with a two-day total of 7-over 149. He finished five strokes ahead of Rolla's Jonathan Jordan.

Hallsville's Logan Cox finished with a two-day total of 147 to win the male age 12-13 year-old division title.

Jefferson City's Graham Johnson and Charlie Hinds finished second and third, respectively. Johnson shot a 74 on Tuesday, finishing five strokes behind Cox in the two-day event, while Hinds posted a two-day score of 186.
