Kirk Farmer and Kory Franks of Jefferson City are among the area players to survive Thursday's first round of match play in the Missouri Amateur at Jefferson City Country Club.
Farmer shot par on the 17th to take the lead against Chad Niezing of Manchester and held on to win 1 up.
Franks defeated John McCulloch of Jefferson City 6 and 5, totaling three birdies.
Walker Kesterson of Hartsburg recorded four birdies to defeat Drew Hatton of Leawood 7 and 6.
The second and third rounds will be today and Saturday.
Kesterson tees off at 8:18 a.m. against Sam Migdal of Ballwin.
Farmer will go against Matt Echelmeier of Columbia at 8:27 a.m.
Franks tees off at 8:45 a.m. against David Strickland of Fenton.
