Four area players made the cut of 64 golfers to advance to the match play portion of the Missouri Amateur.
Walker Kesterson of Hartsburg led the foursome, which includes the Jefferson City trio of Kory Franks, Jack McCulloch and Kirk Farmer.
Kesterson tied for eighth after two days of stroke play at Jefferson City Country Club, totaling a two-over par 146. Kesterson will face Drew Hatten of Leawood, Kan., in the first round of match play. They are slated to start at 8:36 a.m. Hatten tied for 47th with a 153.
Franks (tied for 12th, 147) and McCulloch (tied for 47th, 153) will play each other in a match starting at 9:30 a.m.
Farmer (tied for 47th, 153) will face Chad Niezing of Manchester (tied for eighth, 146) in a match slated to begin at 8:54 a.m.
Local players failing to make the cut were Alex Knoll of Jefferson City (159), Gerald Siemons of Jefferson City (163) and Jayson Johnston of Holts Summit (178).
Luigi Botta of Columbia topped the stroke play field with a four-under par 140. Joey Johnson of Springfield was second at 141, while Breston Fleenor of Mission Hills, Kan., and Brad Nurski of St. Joseph tied for third at 142.
Action will continue in the tournament through Sunday.
