Prep Volleyball: Helias freshmen win home tournament

The Helias freshman volleyball team posted a 6-0 record Saturday, winning the Kelsey Toebben Memorial Freshman Tournament at Rackers Fieldhouse.

During pool play, Helias picked up wins against Capital City (25-4, 25-15), Rolla (25-12, 25-13) and School of the Osage (25-14, 25-15) to capture the No. 1 seed in bracket play.

The Lady Crusaders began with a 25-20, 25-15 win against Camdenton, then topped Fatima 25-22, 25-7 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Helias defeated No. 3 seed Lebanon 25-20, 28-26.

Kambrie Lenox led the Lady Crusaders with 35 kills during the tournament, while Hannah Luetkemeyer had 23 kills and Abby Heckman finished with 20 kills. Brynn Baker also posted 12 kills.

Josie Morasch finished with 59 assists, while Hailey Stock had 22 assists and Riley Jaegers added 12.

Ava Millard had a team-high 33 digs, while Camryn Strope had 30 digs. Keiara Jaegers had 22 digs, followed by Morasch (21), Stock (17), Makayla Luebbert (16), Heckman (13) and Sarah Voss (10). Madeline Carel also had seven digs.

Olivia Howell had a team-high five blocks, while Baker, Lenox and Morasch each had three.

Morasch also led the Lady Crusaders with 13 aces and 59 service points, while Millard had seven aces to go with 23 service points. Strope and Stock finished with 29 and 26 service points, respectively.

Helias (9-1) hosts Carthage on Tuesday. The freshman and JV matches start at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity match to follow at 6 p.m. at Rackers Fieldhouse.
