WARDSVILLE - Blair Oaks held a softball reunion to coincide with Saturday's home opener against Troy-Buchanan at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
Following the varsity-only game, approximately 86 alumni of the Lady Falcons softball program - players, coaches, managers and bus drivers - were introduced, beginning with the school's inaugural team in 1974.
"It was to let the previous players, the alumni, just see where Blair Oaks softball is today," Blair Oaks softball coach Sharon Buschjost said. "I was proud of our team for giving them a good representation of softball at Blair Oaks today and show them a win and a huge crowd.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't peek up there just to see the crowd. That was a great view."
In addition, 12 members from the 2009 softball team were recognized for the 10-year anniversary of Blair Oaks' state championship win.
"That was a very exciting element of today," said Buschjost, a former Blair Oaks softball player and the team's head coach since 1996.
The game was originally scheduled for Monday, but Troy-Buchanan agreed to move the game to Saturday to allow for more Blair Oaks alumni to attend.
"We worked hard to try to make that happen," Buschjost said. "Luckily, things fell into place for us with Troy, and they were able to get here today."
Before the game, Mary Beth Ochsner, the head coach of the 1974 Blair Oaks softball team, threw out the first pitch.
Following the alumni introductions, former players split into teams for a slow-pitch softball game.
