Prep Softball: Fulton 8, Capital City 3

ASHLAND - The Fulton Lady Hornets pulled away from the Capital City Lady Cavaliers to win 7-3 on Wednesday in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament.

The No. 5 seed Lady Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Jaiden Kausler scored on a Mickinzy King groundout.

After Fulton scored a pair of runs in the bottom half, Camryn Sharp tied it at 2 with an RBI double.

Sharp later scored on a passed ball to give Capital City a 3-2 lead against the fourth-seeded Lady Hornets.

Fulton scored three in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Sharp finished with two of Capital City's five hits.

Olivia Wood took the loss in the pitcher's circle, allowing seven hits and seven runs with six strikeouts in six innings.

Capital City ends its season at 7-17.

Fulton (19-8) will face top-seeded Helias (20-5) at 4 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Blair Oaks (18-5), the No. 2 seed, will take on No. 3 seed Southern Boone (18-4) at 6 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
