Prep Baseball: Hornets advance to district title game

ST. ELIZABETH - The St. Elizabeth Hornets advanced to the title game in the Class 1 District 10 Tournament with a 15-0 victory in four innings Tuesday against Bunceton.

With the win, top-seeded St. Elizabeth (13-4, No. 3 in Class 1) will play third-seeded Pilot Grove (13-5) for the title at 6 p.m. today. Pilot Grove advanced with a 6-3 semifinal win against Jamestown on Tuesday.

Nolan Heckemeyer went the distance to get the win on the mound, tossing a two-hitter. He walked one and struck out three.

Heckemeyer had a two-run home run in the win. Aaron Blomberg and Kendal Bax had three hits each for the Hornets, scoring twice. Blomberg also drove in three runs. Carson Kesel and Ross Struemph added two hits each, Kesel had two RBI, while Struemph scored twice.
