Russellville baseball advances with win against Iberia

EUGENE - Dawson Koch and Riley Marcum combined to pitch a two-hitter Monday in Russellville's 12-0 win in five innings against the Iberia Rangers in the Class 2 District 9 Tournament semifinals.

Trenton Morrow's grand slam capped a five-run first inning for the Indians in the battle of state-ranked teams.

The sixth-ranked Indians scored four runs in the second and three more in the fourth to win by run-rule against the eighth-ranked Rangers.

Koch struck out seven and walked five in 4 innings to get the win. Marcum retired the only batter he faced to end the game in the top of the fifth.

Morrow went 2-for-3, adding a single, and finished with a game-high six RBI for Russellville.

Austin Roe went 4-for-4 with four singles, driving in three runs. Koch had a single, a double and two RBI.

Russellville (18-9), the No. 1 seed, will face third-seeded Eugene at 5 p.m. today for the district championship.
