Russellville baseball no-hits Skyline in opener

URBANA, Mo. - The Russellville Indians baseball team began the 2019 season Friday against a familiar opponent.

In a rematch of last year's Class 2 third-place game, the Indians had two pitchers combine to throw a no-hitter against the Skyline Tigers in a 10-0 win in five innings.

Matthew Miller pitched the first four innings, allowing just one walk and striking out six. Riley Marcum pitched the fifth, finishing with two strikeouts.

The two combined to throw 66 pitches, 42 for strikes.

At the plate, Matthew Miller and Chandler Miller went 2-for-3 to lead the Indians with a pair of singles and two runs scored each. Nick Thompson added a single and three RBI.

Russellville (1-0), ranked No. 2 in Class 2, will play two more games today in Knob Noster. The Indians will play Lafayette County at 10 a.m. and then the host Panthers at 12:15 p.m.
