Chamois girls advance in tourney with win against New Haven

HERMANN, Mo. - The Chamois Lady Pirates overcame an early deficit Wednesday to defeat the New Haven Lady Shamrocks 42-39 in the loser's bracket semifinals of the Hermann Tournament.

Chamois fell behind 13-9 after one quarter, then bounced back and was able to tie the score at 21 going into halftime.

The Lady Pirates won the scoring battle 9-6 in the third quarter to take a 30-27 lead into the fourth, hanging on down the stretch to snap a three-game losing streak.

Katie Keilholz and Makenna Wuelling each scored 19 points to lead the Lady Pirates.

Chamois (8-9), the No. 6 seed, will play fifth-seeded Montgomery County in the fifth-place game at 5 p.m. Friday.
