Lady Jays beat Hickman 43-24 to end regular season

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays had just 24 hours to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

The Lady Jays wrapped up their regular season Thursday with a convincing 43-24 road win against the Hickman Kewpies.

Jefferson City led 13-6 at the end of the first quarter and 25-8 at halftime. The Lady Jays pulled away to a 36-13 lead through three quarters, with Emma Chapman accounting for 11 of the Kewpies' 13 points in the first 24 minutes.

Kara Daly paced the Lady Jays with 12 points. Hannah Nilges added nine.

Jefferson City (24-1), ranked No. 1 in Class 5, is the No. 1 seed in next week's District 8 Tournament at Troy-Buchanan. With a first-round bye, the Lady Jays await the winner between No. 4 Battle (8-16) and No. 5 Timberland (5-19) in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
