Lady Jays' Anderson up for Miss Show-Me Basketball honor

Caitlin Anderson of Jefferson City High School is one of three finalists for the Miss Show-Me Basketball award.

The award, presented to the top senior girls player in Missouri, will be presented Sunday, April 14, at the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association banquet in Springfield.

Anderson, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, helped lead Jefferson City to a second-place finish in the Class 5 state tournament last month. She averaged 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists this season as the Lady Jays set a program single-season record with 29 victories.

Anderson, who has signed to play at Indiana State, already has been named the Class 5 girls player of the year by the association.

The other finalists are Haley Frank of Strafford and Marissa Warren of Incarnate Word. Frank, the Class 3 player of the year, has signed with Missouri. Warren, the Class 4 player of the year, has signed to play at DePaul.

The four finalists for Mr. Show-Me Basketball are Mario McKinney of Vashon, Yuri Collins of St. Mary's: St. Louis, DeAndre Sorrells of Grandview and Isiaih Mosley of Rock Bridge. McKinney, who has signed with Missouri, was the Class 3 player of the year, while Collins won the Class 4 award and Mosley took honors in Class 5.

The MBCA academic all-state teams will be honored as well at the banquet.

The association will induct a group into its Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 13, in Springfield.

This year's class includes Skyline girls coach Kevin Cheek, Lockwood boys coach Dennis Cornish, Grain Valley girls coach Randy Draper, St. Louis Community College women's coach Shelly Ethridge, Strafford girls coach Steve Frank, Sedalia Sacred Heart boys coach Steve Goodwin, former California boys coach John McKinzie, Walnut Grove boys coach Darin Meinders, Rock Bridge girls coach Jill Nagel, former Blue Springs South girls coach Brad Oyler, KRCG sports director Rod Smith, broadcaster Don West and West Plains girls coach Scott Womack.
