ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays had five runners finish in the top 10 Saturday, propelling them to a team title in the Class 4 District 4 meet at McNair Park.
The Jefferson City boys won the district championship with 34 points. Hickman was second with 64 points, followed by Rock Bridge in third with 83. Timberland was fourth with 114 points.
The top four teams will advance to next Saturday's sectional, which will be hosted by Jefferson City at Cole County Park.
Thomas Nield led the Jays with a third-place finish, posting a time of 16:25.85.
Jefferson City runners claimed sixth through eighth place. Blake Conrad finished in 16:41.78, followed by Izaak Sochinski in 16:42.02. Deaken Walker was eighth in 16:42.94.
Ben Krause rounded out the Jays' team score, finishing 10th in 16:48.14. Tommy Roehl was 11th in 16:51.02 and Landon Dunlap finished 14th in 16:55.88.
All seven Jefferson City runners received all-district honors for placing in the top 30.
Hickman's Chandler Gibbens won the boys individual district title, posting a first-place time of 15:52.83.
The Jefferson City Lady Jays finished sixth in the team standings with 163 points.
Rock Bridge won the girls district team title with 35 points and six all-district medalists. Timberland (70), Hickman (88) and Liberty: Wentzville (98) also advance their full teams to next weekend's sectional meet.
Jackie Hensley is the lone sectional qualifier for the Lady Jays. She placed ninth at districts with a time of 20:17.86 to earn all-district honors.
Alyson Linhardt took 34th place in 21:21.54 for Jefferson City, while Hope Lewis finished 36th in 21:22.89. Saneya Winter placed 38th in 21:41.35 and Elizabeth Dunn rounded out the team score with a time of 22:01.47 to finish 46th.
Other runners for the Lady Jays include Maddie Showers, who was 54th in 22:34.74, and Carrington Stilabower, who was 59th in 23:00.07.
Ally Kruger of Liberty won the girls individual district title, clocking a time of 19:14.98.
