Blair Oaks to host Warsaw in Class 2 softball quarterfinals

The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons will look to get back to the Class 2 softball Final Four this afternoon when they host the Warsaw Lady Wildcats.

The quarterfinal contest between former Tri-County Conference foes Blair Oaks (25-4) and Warsaw (23-3) is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Falcon Athletic Complex.

Blair Oaks advanced to the quarterfinals by winning the District 9 Tournament title, then rolling to a 15-0 win in four innings in Wednesday's sectional at Cuba.

Warsaw captured the District 12 Tournament crown, then defeated Willow Springs 11-1 in five innings at home in Wednesday's sectional round.

Blair Oaks blanked Dixon 10-0 in the quarterfinals last year in Wardsville on its way to a second-place finish in the state tournament. Warsaw fell 5-1 to Dixon the sectional round last season.

Today's winner advances to the Final Four next week in Springfield.

The semifinals and third-place game will be played Friday, with the championship contest scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Blair Oaks-Warsaw winner will face the winner of today's quarterfinal between defending state champion Bowling Green (24-4) or Father Tolton (18-6) at 2 p,m. Friday in the semifinals.

In today's other quarterfinals, Holden (25-6) will play host to Trenton (25-2) while East Carter (24-5) will host Montgomery County (11-10).
