Prep Volleyball: Calvary goes 2-3 at tournament

OZARK, Mo. - The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions finished 10th out of 12 teams Saturday in the Ozark Grand Slam.

Of the four different teams the Lady Lions faced, three are from Class 4 in Missouri and the fourth is in Class 5A in Arkansas.

Calvary Lutheran went 1-2 in pool play. The Lady Lions lost 25-15, 25-17 to Ozark, ranked No. 4 in Missouri by MaxPreps, and then dropped a 25-14, 25-13 decision to Greenwood, ranked No. 5 in Arkansas.

Calvary Lutheran concluded pool play with a 26-24, 25-23 win against Republic to advance to the bronze bracket.

In bracket play, Calvary Lutheran opened with a 25-15, 25-22 win against William Chrisman, getting a rematch against Republic for the bronze bracket championship. The Lady Tigers avenged their earlier defeat, beating the Lady Lions in three sets 20-25, 25-15, 27-25.

Calvary Lutheran (19-9-2) hosts Eugene today. The JV match begins at 6 p.m., with the varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
