Prep Baseball: Eugene 10, Linn 0

Ryan Lepper pitched a two-hit shutout Friday afternoon, leading the Eugene Eagles to a 10-0 win in five innings against the Linn Wildcats in pool play of the Linn Tournament at Vivion Field.

Lepper threw 48 of his 73 pitches for strikes, finishing with two walks and five strikeouts.

Eugene scored four runs in the second innings, two in the third and four in the fourth to win by run rule.

Lepper helped himself out at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI. Drew Hart finished 3-for-3 with three singles and three runs scored.

Curtis Deeken doubled and Gus Peters singled for Linn’s two hits.

In other pool-play games Friday at the Linn Athletic Complex, Eugene defeated Cuba 16-6 and Linn won 12-2 against Cuba.

Hart hit a three-run home during Eugene’s 10-run second inning against Cuba. Chase Morrow had three hits and three RBI, Sam Schulte went 2-for-4 with four RBI, Garet Wood had a pair of hits and Cole Bradley drove in a pair of runs.

Linn scored five runs in the fifth inning to cap its run-rule victory against Cuba. Peters led the offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Deeken and Tanner Hackmann each had two hits for Linn and Tryten Reynolds drove in two runs.

Seth Wolfe was the winning pitcher. In five innings, he allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Eugene (7-6), which is receiving votes in the Class 2 state rankings, plays Dixon in the championship game of the six-team tournament at 4 p.m. today in Linn.

Linn (6-8) faces Belle in the third-place game at 1:30 p.m. today in Linn.
