Post 5 Seniors finish pool play 3-0 at Washington Tourney

WASHINGTON, Mo. - Parker Schneiders continued to swing a hot bat Saturday, helping the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors win their pool in the Washington Wood Bat Tournament.

Post 5 concluded pool play with a 3-0 record after defeating Ballwin 11-2 and Manchester 6-2 on Saturday at Borgia High School.

Schneiders had three hits and three RBI against Ballwin. Hayden Hirschvogel added two hits and two RBI for Jefferson City.

Ballwin got on the board first with a run in the opening inning, but Jefferson City tied it in the second and scored six runs in the fourth to lead 7-1. Ballwin added a second run in the fifth before Post 5 plated four runs in the sixth.

Connor McKenna went the distance for Jefferson City, striking out 11 while allowing two hits and walking two.

Post 5 trailed 1-0 after the first inning against Manchester, but scored three runs each in the second and third innings to lead 6-2.

McKenna drove in a game-high three runs for Post 5.

Schneiders pitched the first four innings, allowing two runs and striking out two. Drew Bax pitched the next 1 innings before the game ended because of a time limit.

Jefferson City advances to play in the semifinals at noon today at Washington High School. The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
