Russellville hires Stuckey as first football coach

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The official start date for Russellville's high school football program is still up in the air, but the Indians have a head coach.

David Stuckey was named the Indians' inaugural football head coach, Russellville superintendent Perry Gorrell announced Monday morning.

Stuckey is in his second year at Russellville High School as a physical education and history teacher. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1988 and received his degree from Central Methodist College (now University), where he was a three-sport athlete in football, track and field and golf.

Stuckey has been a head football coach for 12 years, most recently at Mountain Grove, where he guided the Panthers to a 10-3 record and a Class 3 quarterfinal appearance in 2015.

He has also served as head football coach at Grandview, Santa Fe and Pierce City. He led Santa Fe to Class 1 semifinal appearances in 2003 and '04.

In addition to football, Stuckey has also previously coached boys and girls track and field, boys golf, baseball and volleyball.

Russellville announced last September it will begin playing football at the junior high school later this fall. The high school program is expected to be added sometime in the next couple years, but no official start date has been announced.
