Jays beat Tolton for third straight victory

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays lost their lead momentarily in the fourth quarter, but they responded with an 8-0 run to pull past the Father Tolton Trailblazers for a 66-61 win Wednesday.

The Jays led 14-9 after one quarter and made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to end the first half with a 31-22 lead.

Father Tolton cut its deficit to 45-40 through three quarters and outscored Jefferson City 10-3 to start the fourth quarter, but that's when the Jays went on their run and were able to hold on for their third consecutive win.

Ben Folz led the Jays with 14 points, while DaMani Jarrett and Jared Cooper each scored 10 points.

Jefferson City (11-9) plays Saturday at Poplar Bluff.

The Jays also won the JV game 59-41 to improve to 11-6.

Jefferson City led 16-8 after one quarter, 29-20 at halftime and 43-27 through three quarters.

Sterling DeSha led the Jays with 16 points, while Kaidyn Johnson finished with 12 points.
