Prep Wrestling: Blair Oaks takes eighth in Sedalia

SEDALIA - Dalton Bridges and Caleb Meeks both finished second for Blair Oaks in The Battle at the Katy Trail that concluded Saturday.

Bridges went 2-0 in pool play at 126 pounds, winning both by first-period fall. Bridges then won his first three bracket matches by first-period falls before losing by fall in the third period to Donavan Pam of Brookfield in the title bout.

Meeks was 3-0 in pool play at 132, winning all three by first-period falls. Meeks started bracket action with a win by major decision, then won by a fall in the third period in the semifinals. He then lost by technical fall to Wyatt Segar of Polo in the title match.

Ben Thomas was fifth for Blair Oaks at 160 pounds. Thomas won three times by fall in pool play, and three more times by fall in bracket action. He lost by decision in the quarterfinals and had a record of 7-1.

Jayce Griggs was seventh at 120 for the Falcons, finishing with a record of 4-2 in the tournament. Levi Haney was seventh at 152 with a record of 5-2. Eli Batiste at 145 and Shane Gilmore at 220 were both eighth for Blair Oaks.

Blair Oaks finished eighth with 310.5 points. Lathrop was first with 483.5 in the 66-team event.

Blair Oaks is off until Jan. 2 when it will wrestle at Priory.
