Prep Baseball: St. Elizabeth finishes third

VIENNA, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Hornets went 1-1 Saturday to take third place in the Vienna Fall Classic.

The Hornets fell 4-3 to the Vienna Eagles in the semifinals. Clayton Holtmeyer went 1-for-3 with two RBI and Coltin Green added one hit and one RBI.

Nolan Heckemeyer was the losing pitcher, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings to go with three walks and four strikeouts. Dakota Kemna threw the final two innings, scattering three hits and striking out four.

St. Elizabeth bounced back to win the third-place game 8-2 against Bourbon Warhawks. Aaron Blomberg struck out four and walked two in six innings to earn the win, allowing six hits.

Ross Struemph pitched a scoreless seventh inning to close the game. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored.

Green finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Heckemeyer added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.

St. Elizabeth (10-2) plays Tuesday at Vienna.
