SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Helias tennis pairing of Abby Dowden and Catherine Conley medalled at the Class 1 state championships for the second time in three years Saturday.
The duo finished their consolation semifinals match strong, defeating Alisha Castaner and Jean Li of Pembroke Hill 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
In the fifth-place match, Sophia McLellen and Ashley Hagan of Visitation Academy won 6-3, 7-5 against the Helias duo.
Dowden and Conley (24-4) were making their third state appearance together. Their first medal came in 2015 after a fifth-place finish.
