Kliethermes perfect as Blair Oaks blanks California in district softball semifinal

CALIFORNIA, Mo. - Blair Oaks pitcher Makenna Kliethermes tossed a perfect game in five innings Friday, striking out 14 of the 15 batters she faced in the Lady Falcons' 14-0 win against the California Lady Pintos in the Class 2 District 10 Tournament semifinals.

Blair Oaks benefited from three home runs, including a leadoff homer by Macey Stockman in the bottom of the first inning. She finished with two hits and two RBI.

Brooke Boessen went 3-for-3 at the plate, collecting a single, a triple and a home run while driving in five runs.

Hannah Schroeder had the Lady Falcons' other home run and drove in two runs.

Kliethermes finished with three of Blair Oaks' 15 hits and Kayla Jones added two hits. Torie Thurston had one hit and one RBI.

Blair Oaks (24-5), the No. 1 seed in the district, will face second-seeded Eugene (19-4) for the district championship at 1 p.m. today.

Eugene beat New Bloomfield 14-4 in six innings in Friday's other semifinal contest.
