Helias begins to look for new A.D. and football coach

Helias is looking to fill two high-profile positions in its athletic department.

On Friday, Helias announced Tim Rulo will not return for a fourth season as head football coach. On Thursday, the school posted its opening for athletic director on its various social media accounts.

In an email, Helias president Fr. Stephen Jones admitted there are challenges to searching for both positions at the same time.

"Mainly, it will just take a lot of time and energy to carry out effective search processes," he wrote.

Fr. Jones said Helias will not hire the same person for both positions.

"(The athletic director) job is too big, and requires too many responsibilities, for the successful candidate to be able to juggle along with a coaching position," Jones wrote.

Dwayne Clingman has been serving as interim athletic director since Brad Dempsey resigned from the position in September. Dempsey had also been the head coach for the Lady Crusaders' soccer program. Jay Hebenheimer, who led the Helias boys soccer program this fall, was named as Dempsey's replacement.

Helias will post the head football coaching position Monday.
