MOKANE, Mo. - The Fatima Comets escaped an early upset Monday to beat Dixon 8-5 in the semifinals of the Class 3 District 9 tournament.
Logan Bexten was the winning pitcher and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Bexten allowed four runs on three hits and four walks with eight strikeouts in 61/3 innings.
Skyler Dickneite went 4-for-4 with an RBI, while Drew Bax finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. Josef Keilholz also had a pair of hits for the Comets.
Fatima (16-8) will meet South Callaway (23-5) at 5 p.m. today in the championship game. The teams met in Westphalia on April 25 with the Comets winning 3-1.
South Callaway beat Cuba 5-1 in the other semifinal.
