Jays baseball tops Sedalia S-C for 14th straight win

SEDALIA - The Jefferson City Jays topped another district foe Monday, winning 9-6 against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers.

The Jays have won all six games this season against Class 5 District 9 teams and extended their win streak to 14 games.

Jefferson City scored all of its runs in the first two innings. The Jays scored five runs in the top of the first inning and then added four more in the second to take a 9-1 lead.

Gunnar See had a two-RBI single in the first inning and then cleared the bases with a double in the second to finish the game with five RBI.

Brandon Williams also had a pair of singles and two RBI for the Jays.

Joseph Travis was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs on 12 hits and three walks in six innings. He also struck out five batters. Jacob Weirich pitched a scoreless seventh inning, adding one strikeout.

Jefferson City (24-2) plays today at Waynesville.

In the JV game, Jefferson City won 10-1 to improve its record to 8-2.

Justin Wood went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Michael Skinner had a double and drove in two runs. Cade Galbraith was the winning pitcher for the Jays.
