A pair of Jefferson City Jays earned recognition from the American Baseball Coaches Association on Thursday.

Senior shortstop/pitcher Grant Wood was tabbed an ABCA/Rawlings Third-Team All-American as well as the Region 5 Player of the Year.

Senior pitcher Jacob Weirich also made the All-Region team.

Wood and Weirich were two of the three players from Missouri awarded a spot on the Region 5 team. Francis Howell senior outfielder Kyle Grantham also earned the honor.

Wood and Grantham were the only players from Missouri to be named All-American.

Wood and Weirich helped lead the Jays to the program's first state championship since 1989.

Wood finished the season with an above .500 batting average and with school records in doubles (17) and hits (52). He also broke Weirich's school record of wins with 11.

Weirich ended up with nine wins for the second straight season, compiling a school record 117 strikeouts.
