Licklider, Thompson to share A.D. duties in 2017-18

A couple of familiar faces are returning to the Jefferson City High School athletic department.

On Wednesday, Dennis Licklider and Tim Thompson were announced as co-interim athletic/activities directors for the 2017-18 school year.

Licklider was the head track and field coach for 24 years at Jefferson City and an assistant football coach for 22 years.

Under his leadership, Jefferson City track and field won nine state championships and the program was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Licklider taught at Jefferson City High School from 1977-2009.

Thompson served as athletic director at Jefferson City High School from 2000-08. He started on staff with the school system in 1985. Thompson was the head baseball coach for 10 years, leading the Jays to the state championship in 1989. He also coached volleyball, basketball track and golf during his time at Jefferson City.

In 2008, Thompson accepted a position as assistant executive director with the Missouri State High School Activities Association. He was with MSHSAA until 2015. Thompson currently teaches math at St. Joseph Cathedral School.

Dan Ridgeway, who was recently announced as the interim athletic director at Jefferson City High School, has accepted the athletic director position in the Union School District.

Mark Caballero stepped down as activities director at Jefferson City to accepting the same position at Rolla. Caballero was named the A.D. at Jefferson City in 2013.
