Boys Basketball: Versailles 79, California 70 OT

VERSAILLES - The California Pintos came back from a 16-point deficit at halftime to force overtime, but the Versailles Tigers prevailed 79-70 on Friday in Tri-County Conference action.

Versailles led 20-14 after the first quarter and 39-23 at halftime. The Pintos slashed into the Tigers' lead, trailing 49-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

California outscored Versailles 22-13 in the final eight minutes to force overtime.

Coby Williams helped seal the win for Versailles, making 7-of-8 at the free throw line in the extra period. He scored a game-high 27 points while Shane Randall added 20. Jonathan Geier chipped in with 15 points for the Tigers.

Wyatt Bestgen was California's top scorer, finishing with 23 points.

Versailles (7-7) will start play in the Clinton Tournament on Monday against Knob Noster.

California (6-9) plays Wednesday at Southern Boone.
