Boys Basketball: Jays lose late at Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays had a potential game-winning 3-pointer bounce off the rim as they fell 58-56 on Friday at Rockhurst.

It's the sixth time this season the Jays have lost a one-possession game.

Jefferson City trailed 13-9 after the first quarter, 31-26 at halftime and 42-36 after the third.

Jefferson City (9-15) will begin postseason play Tuesday as it hosts the Class 5 District 8 Tournament. The fourth-seeded Jays will face the top-seeded Troy Buchanan Trojans at 5 p.m.

Holt and Battle will play at 7 p.m. in the other semifinal matchup.
