BUNCETON - The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets jumped out to a 21-point halftime lead Monday on their way to a 63-40 win against the Jamestown Lady Eagles in the opening round of the Class 1 District 9 Tournament.
St. Elizabeth led 16-12 after the first quarter before a 25-8 bulge in the second gave the Lady Hornets a 41-20 advantage at intermission. It was 55-24 in favor of the Lady Hornets entering the fourth quarter.
Brooke Struemph finished with 17 points and nine rebounds to lead St. Elizabeth. Kayla Streumph and Andrea Schaffer added 14 points each for the Lady Hornets.
Blake Scholl had 12 points for Jamestown, while Samantha Nivens chipped in with 11.
St. Elizabeth (15-11) will meet Pilot Grove in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
