STURGEON - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats, the No. 1 seed in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament, started the week with a 67-42 win Monday against the Fayette Lady Falcons.
New Bloomfield led 15-8 after one quarter, 31-15 at halftime and 44-29 through three quarters of play.
Madi Craighead paced New Bloomfield with 25 points and Baylee Garrett finished with 11 points. Samantha Haas also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 blocks.
New Bloomfield (20-6) will play host Sturgeon, the No. 5 seed, in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Sturgeon beat the Linn Lady Wildcats (13-13) by a score of 47-38 in the first round Monday.
