Holiday Hoops Invitational: Blue Springs South 55, Quincy 40

The Blue Springs South Lady Jaguars dominated for about three minutes Friday afternoon.

That was enough.

Blue Springs South used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to take the lead for good on its way to a 55-40 victory against the Quincy Blue Devils in a loser's bracket semifinal in the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.

The game was tied at 11 after one quarter before a basket by Stephanie Anders gave Quincy an 18-16 advantage with 4:30 to go before halftime. That's when Blue Springs South went on its run, started by a 3-pointer by Logan Abernathy. Abernathy closed the run with a pair of free throws to give the Lady Jaguars a 27-18 lead on their way to a 29-20 edge at intermission.

The 15-point final margin matched the biggest of the game.

Derrian Ford and Kaylee Connors had 13 points each to pace Blue Springs South (3-5), who will face Eureka (5-4) in the fifth-place game at noon today at Fleming Fieldhouse.

Anders finished with 15 points for Quincy (5-5), who will meet Hyde Park in a clash of Illinois schools in the seventh-place game at 9 a.m. today at Fleming Fieldhouse.
