Lady Jays fall to Nixa at Stephanie Phillips Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays came close to a tournament title Saturday.

Playing their second game in less than 24 hours, the Lady Jays battled the Nixa Lady Eagles for the championship Saturday afternoon in the Gold Division of the Stephanie Phillips Classic at Kickapoo High School.

Jefferson City saw an eight-point halftime lead disappear in the third quarter and Nixa rallied for a 44-42 win to finish the tournament with a 3-0 record.

The Lady Jays, who went 2-1, led 10-5 after one quarter and 23-15 at halftime. The Lady Eagles battled back and tied the game at 31 entering the fourth quarter.

Caitlin Anderson led the Lady Jays with 10 points and Kara Daly finished with eight points. Tori LePage added seven points.

Anderson was announced as an honoree on the all-tournament team following the game.

Jefferson City (4-3) hosts Cardinal Ritter at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the Capital City Shootout at Fleming Fieldhouse.
