Jays golf finishes fifth in Capital City Classic

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays took fifth place out of 22 teams Monday in the Capital City Classic held at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

The Jays carded a team score of 333, finishing one stroke ahead of the Helias Crusaders, who finished in a three-way tie with Battle and Sedalia Smith-Cotton.

Rockhurst won the team title with a score of 311, followed by Rock Bridge with 319, Francis Howell with 320 and Father Tolton at 329.

Dalton Roark of Helias was a top-15 medalist in the field of 110 golfers. Roark was in a six-way tie for 12th place with a 7-over 79.

Ethan Johnson shot an 84 for the Crusaders, followed by Cole Higgins with an 85. Curtis Campbell shot an 86 and Alex Gentry finished with an 88.

The Jays were led by Nathan Erickson, who finished in a tie for 22nd place with an 81. Michael Davidson shot an 83, Austin Siebeneck carded an 84 and Brett Trowbridge rounded out the team score with an 85. Burke Craighead finished with a 90.

The Blair Oaks Falcons finished 16th in the team standings with a 365.

Blair Oaks was led by Kyle Backes, who tied for 31st place with an 84. Jake Van Ronzelen shot an 86, Braydon Pemberton finished with a 91, Jared Steinbeck had a 104 and Dennis Harris carded a 108.

The Fatima Comets were 20th with a 398 and were led by Austin Eisterhold, who tied for 63rd place with a 90. Cole Lehmen finished with a 99, Louis Bonnot shot a 102, Josh Smith had a 107 and Garrett Huber posted a 129.

Hannibal's Trevor Watson was the Classic's medalist, shooting a 1-over 73.
