Prep Baseball: Jays go 4-0 in Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. - After losing 11-7 to Helias in the Capital City Invitational championship game, the Jefferson City Jays have rolled off eight straight victories.

On Saturday, the Jays finished a two-day trip to Kansas with a 14-1 win in five innings against O'Gorman (S.D.) and a 2-1 win against Blue Valley (Kan.).

Brandon Willians and Cade Galbraith combined for a two-hitter against O'Gorman. Williams threw the first four innings, striking out four and walking one. Galbraith pitched the fifth, allowing a run on two hits.

At the plate, Cole Ahrens had two hits and four RBI to led the 14-hit attack.

Grant Wood totaled two hits and two RBI. Jack Shinkle, Peyton Bodentab, Gaven Strobel, Gunnar See and Williams each had an RBI.

Against Blue Valley, Jefferson City took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when Kade Franks tripled in the go-ahead run.

Wood finished it by closing out the seventh. He pitched three perfect innings of relief, striking out three.

Hayden Hirschvogel started on the mound, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.

Blue Valley took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, but Williams doubled in a run to tie it.

Jefferson City (18-2) continues its string of road games Tuesday against Lebanon.
