Helias' Boessen pitches no-hitter against Father Tolton

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders extended their win streak to seven games Saturday behind two superb pitching performances.

Helias won 13-0 in five innings against Father Tolton on a no-hitter, followed by a 4-2 win in 10 innings against Lutheran: St. Charles.

Helias avenged an earlier loss to Lutheran: St. Charles in the Capital City Invitational, which is also the last time the Crusaders suffered defeat.

Drew Boessen pitched a no-hitter in five innings against Father Tolton in game one, throwing 48 of his 60 pitches for strikes. Boessen also struck out seven in the win.

Helias used a six-run second inning to pull away against Father Tolton, then used a four-run fifth to win by run rule.

Trevor Austin was 3-for-4 with three singles, two RBI and three runs scored against the Trailblazers. Boessen added one single and one double and Parker Schnieders had two singles.

Matthew Dampf and Alex Buschjost each had two RBI.

In game two, Lutheran: St. Charles took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second, then Helias tie the game at 1 in the top of the fifth. Neither team scored again until the ninth inning, with each team plating a run in the inning.

The Crusaders added two runs in the top of the 10th and Connor McKenna pitched a scoreless inning of relief to pick up the save.

Tyler Cassmeyer threw the first 8 2/3 innings for the Crusaders before he had to exit the game after reaching his 105-pitch limit. He scattered six hits and allowed one walk while striking out seven.

Austin went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two singles and Dylan Hood had one single and one double.

Helias (10-4) will host Blair Oaks on Tuesday.
