New Bloomfield wins South Callaway softball tourney

MOKANE, Mo. - After defeating Mark Twain 15-0 in three innings in the first round of the South Callaway Tournament, New Bloomfield felt like playing extra innings in the championship game against Eugene.

Madison Love drove in Kate Baxter in the top of the ninth inning as the Lady Wildcats won 2-1.

New Bloomfield beat Fulton 2-0 in the semifinals.

Kaylee Beck was the winning pitcher against Fulton and Eugene. She threw a two-hit shutout against Fulton with four strikeouts. Beck pitched all nine innings against Eugene, allowing one run on six hits with 12 strikeouts.

Baxter went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double against Fulton. She went 1-for-4 against Eugene.

New Bloomfield (13-1) plays Tuesday at Linn.
