Engelbrecht leads Owls in assists

FAYETTE - William Woods junior setter Brittney Engelbrecht posted 50 assists Wednesday night, leading the Owls to a five-set victory against Central Methodist 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 15-25, 15-9.

Engelbrecht (Helias High School) surpassed the 50-assist mark for the second time this season, posting a season-best 55 assists last Saturday against Montana State-Northern. She is tied for third in the NAIA with a total of 443 assists through 12 matches this season.

Owls sophomore outside hitter Tory Wiley (Helias) had nine kills and five digs against Central Methodist.

Central Methodist junior middle blocker Madison Bond (Jefferson City High School) posted a team-high eight blocks for the Eagles and also had 10 kills against the Owls.

William Woods (7-5) will play against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Illinois Wesleyan today at the Barker Chevrolet Classic in Bloomington, Ill. Central Methodist (11-3) will face Milligan College today at the Roosevelt Quad in Chicago.
